A nearly 40-year effort to conserve 30 acres of intertidal habitat just north of Wheeler was nearing completion last spring when Lower Nehalem Community Trust, which had secured all the necessary funding, encountered unexpected complexities, imperiling the deal. North Coast Land Conservancy was able to step in as a bridge owner to buy time and lend support.
