Thousands of 20-year-old trees now have the breathing room they need to grow in our Boneyard Ridge Habitat Reserve, thanks to a major thinning project. In November a crew of expert fallers reduced a densely planted forest plot from 630 to 220 trees per acre. They also built habitat piles, creating refuges for frogs and salamanders, perching sites for songbirds, and more. Funding came from the US Fish and Wildlife Service Coastal Program, Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, and the Oregon Wildlife Foundation. MORE
